† About the Sacrament

The Sacrament of Reconciliation

Confession — also called the Sacrament of Reconciliation or Penance — is how God forgives sins committed after Baptism through the ministry of the priest. Catholics believe Christ himself forgives sins through the priest.

You don't need to be a perfect Catholic to go. Confession is for everyone who is sorry and wants to start fresh.

† How to Go

1
Examine your conscience Reflect honestly on your sins since your last confession.
2
Confess your sins Tell the priest your sins — face-to-face or behind a screen. He is bound by absolute secrecy.
3
Receive absolution The priest assigns a penance and God's forgiveness is pronounced. Your sins are forgiven.
